"I went for everything I desired, with everything I had, I didn't know which direction I was going but all I knew was that in no way shape or form deserved less..."

Elsa Majimbo

Welcome, Queens & Kings to another blog post!

Before digging in today, I wanted to kind of do a heart-to-heart. When I started this blog, I wanted to share my ongoing life story in hopes that it offers you value-plain & simplicity. So much has changed since then & you guys know that over here we work towards curating our best life, a work that tends towards change and small increments of improvements. (Pause to reflect how you might have changed since the first time you read this blog, feel free to share with me how the blog might have improved your life). Haven got a good enough footing in writing to you now, being in my current stage in life I have decided to chisel my story to you to mainly focus on self-improvement with the focus on wellness & productivity. I want to share with you resources & mechanisms I have and am using to work towards a better me. I am by no means perfect and frankly, I will never be; however as I work towards being better than I was yesterday I want to share that experience with you; I want you to try out some of the things I've tried out & for you to see the results good or bad know that you would have worked towards knowing yourself better. Enough of that let's dive into today's story.

We must have all come across the law of sowing & reaping: sow = reap. Often times we focus on both ends of the equation, I want o draw your attention to the equal sign, which represents us. You sow & hence yield the produce. Overtime how you sow matters and can lead to varying reap levels. In a recent read, I came across the terms production capability which refers to our ability & asset that elicits production (your grade A, booming business, or online community). Neglecting or taking care of your production capability which is you, the equal sign that sows in order to reap will determine whether or not your production is worthwhile.

Before coming across these coined terms by Stephen Covey; I had internally come to the realization that efficiency requires me to use some form of tools to work at improving. There is some method to the magic of being more productive, being able to deal with more than one buckets in life(school, content, relationships, e.t.c). There are ways in which I can use to improve my capability to produce. Here are some ways:

-Having Planning mechanisms

Life is immensely unpredictable, however the unpredictable does not happen that often-else it would be predictable. So, harnessing the predictable in your life & even planning for the unpredictable will be sure to set you up for success. The whole point of planning is to give you a working guideline when living in the moment; a plan reflects your goals, considers your current limitations, and then offers you a conquerable challenge to embark on. The level of rigidity would depend on you the individual, I like a medium level. Using a monthly, weekly, and daily planner helps you think of your production goal in a sense of time, it forces you to the appointment the move the roaming ideas specific completion dates which leads to tangible production.

-Changing mindset

Really accept that perfection does not exist. be ever ready to pivot when the unexpected of life pops its head. Identify your progress even if you haven't reached the end.

-Break down tasks into manageable bits

Most time I've wrongly perceived the difficulty level of a task. I've underestimated the time it would take me to complete. Now I've learned to explicitly break down components of tasks. I break it down in a manner that suites me. For example; my psychology class requires me to answer a set of Qs after completing a module; I do this in halves on different days. What writing a blog requires; jot the ideas, brain dump discussion points, fill them in, edit, add to the website, source image & edit layout. They aren't all done in one day but are spread out.

-Restorative breaks

A suggestion always thrown by my professors/admin for when students take tests or exams on their computers is for students to restart their devices. This refreshes the system and makes it act anew. Sleep, short breaks between tasks work in a similar manner.

Sleep for the 6-7 hours is actually not your enemy it's a reset for you to perform your best.

Instead of spending a full hour glued to your screen watching a prerecorded lecture; take 5-minute breaks every at 25-minute intervals.

- New learning experiences

Read books, engage in free webinars or courses that focus on the skills you want to improve.

-Mind bank

Digital or physical space to dump any ideas, or tasks that come through your mind when you're working on a task. I do mine on Google Keep but you can use your phone memo or any notebook.

-Delegating

set appointments for tasks. For example: "at 5 am I'll work on my study flashcards", "at 1 pm I'll do a stretch". Use periods where you are sure you are free. Another way to delegate in a manner that increases your production is to work on a task with someone.

None of these are really groundbreaking ideas, you might have read through the above without being particularly intrigued by any. Just knowing it won't help but groundbreaking the actual work towards enacting the ideas will.

Thanks for stopping by.

Never Stop Curating your best life
