My Dad, often declares that he wishes that his children reach where he can't reach in his lifetime. That his children be better than Him in all spheres of life. I like to think this is every parent's wish.

During the past few weeks, I have had several conversations about slavery and black oppression. A valuable lesson that has been reiterated through these conversations is that the African ancestors went through hell on earth but they fought and died for a better life for their descendants. This fact is why I sometimes state that my ancestors did not go through oppression for me to live a mediocre life.

I do know that not all my readers have melanated ancestors but we are human beings and we were brought up by human beings who struggled to provide for us a better life. These days most of us millennials seem to either forget or ignore that the privileges we currently enjoy were gained through sweat and blood- our parents worked hard to give us a good life. We should acknowledge and appreciate that ever so often. Now, I am not saying that you should live your life for them because you are your own person. What I am saying, is this DON'T LIVE A MEDIOCRE LIFE! DON'T SETTLE!

Go and be better, reach where your parents weren't able to reach.

>>With everything you do, whether it be schooling, work, business or creating do it to the best of your abilities.

>>Explore activities that interest you, try new things: if you succeed then great, if not then at least you have accumulated knowledge about them, you can be better next time.

>>Open your mind and conjure genius ideas, make a plan and execute bit by bit. acquire new skills through sources like Youtube and books.

>>Just don't let life pass you bye.

>>Live a life that you would be proud of even if you die tomorrow.

>>Consciously curate for yourself your best life.

PS: Ask your parents or guardians about their younger life- their schooling, community & culture. You will be sure to get insight and motivation.
