Hello Queens & Kings. It has been a while. What can I say? Seasons come and go bringing a new order of things in place. Virtual Schooling has consumed my time whilst yet dampening my mental space. I did not forget you, my royal reader, I kept on planning & jotting that I would write a blog but it would never form. I even went into a period of writer's block; I really wanted to write but either the right idea would not form or I would absolutely have no time. It's been rough balancing all aspects of my life; recently I read a saying that posits it's not about balance it's about prioritising. Even if an activity is 'good' if it does not align with your vision/goal displace it with a more propelling task.
Well, it hasn't been all bad and in the atmosphere of curating your best life; I wanted to go deeper into updating you about my activities and the tools that have been helping me; in hopes that it offers ease to your life also.
Planner Life
For 2 years I have an agenda given to me from my previous school; the period of usage fluctuated. As I ascended to higher institutions; I researched on youtube how to be more productive; everyone mentioned the use of a planner (digital or paper); I’m kind of an oldie so I went for paper planners. Not just any planner but one created specifically for a student- an academic planner. The Lavish Life planner (black-owned) enthralled me and I got it! I love it so much; The very aesthetic of the cover makes me want to use it; when I pick it up I feel, you know- executive, formidable (LOL). I could go deeper into describing it but that's not necessary; if you cannot get your hands on a planner you can turn a regular notebook into one; you should include however a monthly note of important deadlines, weekly reminders & daily to-do list. Planning weekly is pivotal; sit, list important tasks like an upcoming test- break down the sub-tasks you need to get done before 'THE' day; estimate the time it would take for each & slot them into periods for the week. Place this schedule close to you and work towards it. The thing with writing/ typing tasks down is that relieves your brain of unnecessary stress and makes your neurons more efficient for the gruesome tasks.
Prayer
When the cloud of overwhelming worry descends, water droplets roll down your cheeks & you feel weak; whisper/scream some words for help from your creator and best believe- help will surely come. Yup, that's it, probably the easiest tip to execute in its least. I have done so, multiple times and God keeps on showing up: from complete payment of ridiculously high school fees to the elimination of meetings on my most hectic days to providing individuals to patiently explain to me course work; I am truly glad I have a father who is working tirelessly for my good.
Productive breaks
During the hectic days mentally note periods for restorative pauses. Between 25 or 60 minute intervals; lay down/ sit still for 5 minutes, do a stretch, meditate, walk around the house- ideally do anything that does not involve screen time.
Refreshers
Now, I haven't been blogging but that does not mean I have neglected my mental health or my creative urges. I've been creating logos & graphics, compiling my 'adventure journal' and other minor activities. Having a creative outlet is a true means of a breather and reminding yourself that you are capable of many beautiful things. You are one complex being; tap into the many facets of you. I have done mini-challenges like the conscious capsule challenge, where I style 5 pieces of clothing for 7 days- the aim was to promote sustainable fashion and normalize repeating clothes. Sadly I have not been going on nature walks as often as I would like but adventures that pop in my life I take on. Adventuring, seeking new experiences is important to me so I try to indulge in them whether it be a spontaneous visit to the Royal Ontario Museum one Sunday afternoon or a walk to find out if Anga's Farm has a pumpkin farm; which was true or visiting a family friend in another city. I've truly enjoyed each of these moments and they've helped to fortify me during the turbulent times of studying.
Venting
Quite underrated in my opinion. Friends, family or strangers that are willing to listen are all pivotal for the execution of this act (LOL). Give them a call or simply respond to them in an honest manner; let out your unfiltered frustrations, thoughts and emotions. The very process of letting out releases a portion of the stress you've been holding in. They don't even have to comment but some comments can be useful. They can point out some irrational notions you might have & offer useful advice. For this, I am especially grateful for the church group I have been upgraded into(since I’ve moved from high school to university); we meet weekly and before the main event; there's like a round table for the main purpose of honestly venting.
I have more to say but sadly I have school work to get to so I’ll be releasing them in a later blog.

It might be tough but “Never Stop Curating Your Best Life”. It is more important now than ever.
